Yoga, Massage & Aromatherapy

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on you knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting--
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

-Mary Oliver, Wild Geese

Daphnie Leigh is registered with Yoga Alliance at the Experienced 500 hour level, currently their highest level of registration.  She received her B.A. in Buddhist and Western Contemplative Psychology from Naropa University, in Boulder, CO, where she also began her first Yoga Teacher's Training under the excellent guidance of Yogiraj, Ravi Dykema.  She is a licensed massage therapist, and is trained in clinical aromatherapy.

As a teenager, Daphnie was treated for a severe panic/anxiety disorder, she was in a car accident which injured her neck, and then attended her first yoga class with her dad; she has been practicing yoga ever since!  An important lesson she has learned from yoga is:  courage is not a lack of fear, it is action in the face of fear.  During her years of practice, Daphnie
has studied yoga and meditation with many widely recognized teachers, including an on-going practice with Zen master, Thich Nhat Hanh.   She continues to study with master teachers from many traditions, and is currently working towards certification as an Anusara inspired teacher.

Daphnie began teaching yoga full-time in 1995, and she started Soul Stretch in 1997 (which began as weekend retreats).  After several years of planning, Daphnie's husband, Brian, custom built a beautiful yoga studio at their south Austin home.  With the birth of their first child, Daphnie left her busy teaching schedule and began to primarily teach at her home studio.  She particularly enjoys teaching smaller, personalized classes; her compassionate, down-to-earth, and light-hearted approach to yoga consistently encourages students to stay grounded in the present moment as they honor and celebrate themselves.

Daphnie recently sold her home, and is now traveling around the country with her husband, Brian, their two young, homeschooled, children, and her dad.  You can read more about their adventures at www.omwardbound.blogspot.com
